Coaching

Coaching 2026

Saturday Morning Coaching

Following on from our successful 2025 recruitment drive and coaching programme I am pleased to update you with news that our 2026 programme will commence Saturday 25th April 10am to 12 noon and will run through to the end of August. These sessions are for both beginners and those looking to improve their game.

All equipment provided all we ask is that you wear flat soled non heeled shoes.

Tuesday Improvers Practise

For 2026 we will be holding practise nights on Tuesday evening from 6pm to 7.30pm. These practise sessions are aimed at improving your skills over a range of shot scenarios you could face whilst bowling. These sessions are for A Team.....B Team and our Ladies team......basically all club members who play bowls.

When did you last practise the following?

Cover Shots.......Blockers.......Trailing the Jack........Firing.......Resting or Wresting Shots......Mat Positioning and how about communication skills with your team and how to read the head?

You could be faced by many of these shots whilst playing so rather than facing a shot in game that you have never played before why not practise in advance?

Remember the saying....."the more I practise the better I get".

Once again I would like to thank all of our coaching helpers that have already volunteered to be involved in our 2026 programme. Without your help these coaching sessions would not be possible.

Markers Awareness Day

We will also be holding a Markers Awareness session on Sunday 17th May 2026 from 10am to 12 noon aimed at those who have not marked before or those who would like to learn more.

As a club that holds singles competitions and also has club members playing in MDL and County singles competitions we need to have competent markers.

These sessions are both informative and enjoyable and cover both theory and practical.

Any questions about our coaching programme or how to join Totnes Bowling Club please contact me on:  07971 882125 or Mike Hannaford on 07870 282372.
